Chipola Chapter, NSDAR, is a very active chapter with over 50 members of all ages and more than a dozen prospective members who are currently tracing their lineage. (Our registrar is glad to help with genealogy). Local members reside in Jackson County and the neighboring Florida counties of Calhoun, Gadsden, Washington, and in Houston County, Alabama.
We have won state awards for chapter achievement projects in Conservation, Preservation, American Heritage, American History, National Defense, DAR Schools, Constitution Week and Commemorative Events, Programs, Public Relations, and service to Veteran Patients. The chapter submitted a WMBB-TV news story about our Constitution Day Bell Ringing Service, and the chapter was honored at Continental Congress in Washington, D.C., for the best television coverage of a commemorative event.
The Blue Springs Society of the N.S.C.A.R., organized by the Chipola Chapter in 2003, won a national C.A.R. award for the organizing society with the most members. The Blue Springs Society members are boys and girls, ages one year to twenty-two years. The young society has won numerous state awards for projects and programs. Several of the members currently hold state offices and committee chairmanships.
