Barefoot Beach Chapter
Bonita Springs, Florida
Daughters of the American Revolution
Welcome!
The Barefoot Beach Chapter was organized in Bonita Springs, Florida, December 7, 1994. Chapter meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month September through May. Most of the members of the chapter live in Bonita Springs and Naples area of Southwest Florida.
The chapter name was derived from the Barefoot Beach Preserve,
a beautiful park comprised of 342 acres on the last undeveloped barrier island
on Florida's southwest coast and is an excellent example of the shifts in
habitat that occur within a very narrow strip of land with only slight changes
in elevation and moisture. Eighty-two hundred feet of beaches and sand dunes
support the growth of sea oats and provide nesting sites for sea turtles in the
summer. Most of our winter and year-round residents have come to this area to enjoy some or all of these activities.
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is an educational non-profit organization, formed in 1891 in Washington, DC. Its goals are the perpetuation of the memory and spirit of the men and women who achieved American Independence by the preservation of historical relics and locations, and of records of their individual service, the encouragement of research and publication of historical documents, the promotion of patriotism and love of country, the support of educational facilities.
The Barefoot Beach Chapter, NSDAR, supports these goals.
